1. Cleansing
Cleansing the skin is, of course, one of the most important steps to take when it comes to treating oily skin but not all skin cleansers are up for the task! While most people assume that a stronger, heavy-duty cleanser is needed to tackle oily build-up, you still need to treat the skin with care, using a cleanser that is gentle but contains effective, clarifying ingredients. Solvaderm’s Rejuvoderm skin cleanser, containing Salicylic and Glycolic acids, ensure a deep cleanse without stripping or over-drying.
2. Toning
An often-overlooked step in the skincare routine, toning is especially important for those who want to reduce oil in the skin. Many commercial toners that are made for this skin type are much too harsh, leaving the skin lacking essential natural oils and causing more problems. The Solvaderm Maxatone toner is ideal for oily skin types as not only does it have gentle astringent qualities, but with its calendula extract, promotes blemish healing and repair.
3. Moisturizing
While it may seem counter-productive to moisturize skin that’s prone to oiliness and acne, dermatologists do not recommend skipping this step for a number of reasons. All skin needs moisture, whether it’s dry or oily, and denying skin this vital step can lead to overproduction of sebum which, in turn, will lead to more blemishes and acne.
4. Exfoliating
Exfoliation, like toning, is a step that is often skipped. While some products, including the Rejuvoderm cleanser, already have gentle exfoliating properties, using a separate product once a week can provide a deeper treatment and rid the skin of dead cells to provide a brighter more radiant complexion that is less prone to blemishes and imperfections. Solvaderm’s Glowpeel is ideal as it has been formulated for all skin types including oily, providing effective, non-irritating benefits.
5. Sunscreen
Every dermatologist will tell you, never leave the house without first applying sunscreen! For those people with oily skin, using a lightweight product that won’t clog pores and lead to breakouts is essential and there are many products on the market that are designed with oily skin in mind. Look for a non-greasy moisturizer, such as one in the Solvaderm range, containing broad-spectrum SPF 30 which will provide a good level of protection and is formulated for all skin types.
6. Spot treatment
For those times when a really stubborn pimple or blemish shows up on the skin, sometimes only a specially-formulated product will do. A formula that provides antibacterial properties and can work deep down in the skin layers to disinfect the area while dissolving excess oil will accelerate healing and reduce the appearance of bumpy, red and sore skin. Zeroblem, which is part of Solvaderm’s oily skin range, does just this, using a maximum-strength formula to work fast and effectively when your skin needs it most.
If you follow these skin care tips and use the right products, you can have the blemish-free, clear, and radiant skin you’ve always wanted.
